Modern Mexican Wedding

I had so much fun styling this shoot along with Wedding Planner Ashley from Always Flawless Productions. I wanted to express the tradition and the elegance that we share in the Mexican Culture in a modern way.  Inspired by home ware retailer and designer Lorena Gaxiola dishes “La Loteria” (Mexican bingo) I included “La Estrella” “El Mundo” plates  and “La Mano flatware and more. To complete the theme we included the traditional champurrado, mexican wedding cookies (polvorones) and tequila (credit to my father collector of some great tequilas 😉 trust me I know)

Feel free to leave a comment below. I would love to hear what you think. Hope you love it as much  as I do!

BESOS!!

Before you start eyeing for a florist…..

Before you start looking for a florist make sure you identify your style. Look at magazines, Instagram and Pinterest for inspiration. Look for flowers that you like, designs that get your attention etc. This will help your florist know what you like and what you want. I recommend you have these four things before you meet with your florist:

  • Wedding date-helps florist see what flowers are in season
  • Venue- allows for florist to get creative considering any restrictions the venue might have
  • Flower Budget- this will allow florist to be able to suggest appropriately with in your budget a good florist will let you know if what you are envisioning is doable with in your budget and if not will suggest options.
  • Style-helps florist understand what you are envisioning

Come back next week to our blog on the different types of Florist there is!!

Hugs and kisses,

SJ Floral Design at The Swoon Event

Hi there!!!! Here are some pictures of the work we did for The Swoon Event at the Port Pavilion on Broadway Pier, San Diego this month  (January 2017). I really do recommend to attend these type of bridal shows if you are planning your wedding. They are so much fun…. you get to meet some awesome wedding vendors and get the real feel of what their work is all about in real life.  There is everything from caterers, bar tending companies, wedding planners, rental companies, hair and makeup, cakes, photographers and lets not forget some super talented florist 😉  Thanks to all the brides that stopped by our booth to say hi.  It’s always an excited moment to  meet in person.  Since then I have met with a couple of brides on a personal consultation to discuss color, flowers and styles and it has been nothing but great times, good stories and the beginning of a great partnership. Thanks again in advance for considering SJ Floral Design for your wedding.

Hope you Enjoy!!!

Real Wedding: Kathleen and Christopher Wedding Video

Hello lovely readers, I have been wanting to share this real wedding of one of our brides for a very long time. Hope you enjoy it as much as we did.

If you are indecisive on hiring a videographer or not for your wedding? I would recommend you do. Your wedding day goes by so fast that you will be in disbelieve that something that took 9months, 1year or more was just a flash. Instead of felling that sadness and the after planning blues you have your Video to relive it over and over again. A good videographer will be able to capture details and all the special moments which is priceless. You wont regret it.

Enjoy!

Trending Saturday

Today I will be talking about what will be trending this 2015 for themes, colors and of course flowers!!

Theme: Couples are focusing less on large, traditional weddings and more on an alternative and warm intimate day. Smaller guest list, Family style, loads of personalized details and flowers are taken center stage once again. Menus embraced of your favorite foods, signature cocktails, and photos everywhere. Focus is on what makes your story special.

Flowers: More is more, think Kim and Kanye’s wedding and that look that screams luxury is exactly what you should be looking for. Walls of flowers can serve as photos or ceremony backdrops. Large bouquets, centerpieces, and hanging arrangements—this trend will be both beautiful and expensive but unforgettable.
